Board Perspective · Christopher Franskin

Your next board member?

Technology, transformation, risk and people are no longer peripheral boardroom topics. They are central to how organizations build resilience, make investment decisions and create long-term value.

For more than two decades, I have worked at the intersection of business and technology, leading international teams and complex change across insurance, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and industry. I now see non-executive board responsibilities as a natural next chapter: an opportunity to bring that experience, independent judgment and a pragmatic perspective to a broader strategic conversation.

01 / Executive experience

Experience shaped by decisions, not just presentations.

My career has taken me from hands-on technology leadership to CIO and VP roles in international organizations. Along the way, I have been accountable for complex operations, transformation programs, business continuity, investment choices and the teams responsible for delivering results.

Today, as CIO of DKV Belgium and ERGO Belgium, I work where technology strategy meets business priorities, resilience and execution. Earlier roles at Cigna, Solvay and Syensqo broadened my experience of large-scale transformation, organizational complexity and cross-border leadership.

I have also founded and led my own consulting business. That entrepreneurial perspective reinforces the importance of practicality, accountability and making decisions with incomplete information.

These experiences do not replace formal board service. They provide a strong executive foundation from which I hope to contribute as a non-executive director.

02 / What I bring to a board

A technology-informed perspective on business value.

Boards don't need another layer of technical jargon. They need clear questions, sound judgment and an understanding of where technology creates opportunity, introduces risk or changes the economics of a business.

Digital strategy & AI

Challenge whether digital and AI investments are aligned with business outcomes, customer value and long-term competitiveness.

Risk & resilience

Bring practical experience of technology risk, cybersecurity, operational continuity and the trade-offs behind resilience.

Transformation & execution

Understand what it takes to turn strategic ambition into organizational change—and why good plans sometimes fail in execution.

People & leadership

Keep culture, talent, accountability and trust in view when organizations face disruption or major change.

03 / My approach

Constructive challenge. Independent thinking. No unnecessary jargon.

I believe good governance begins with asking the right questions—not pretending to have every answer.

My approach is direct and pragmatic. I value preparation, transparency and respectful disagreement. I am comfortable challenging assumptions, but equally willing to reconsider my own view when someone brings better evidence or a different perspective.

Challenge the thinking. Respect the people. Stay focused on what matters.

In a boardroom, I would aim to contribute curiosity, sound judgment and a balanced view of opportunity and risk—while respecting the distinct responsibilities of management and non-executive oversight.

04 / The next chapter

Contributing beyond the executive role.

After years of leading technology organizations and contributing to executive decisions, I am interested in selective non-executive board opportunities where my experience can complement an existing board's capabilities.

I am particularly drawn to organizations navigating digital change, evolving business models, operational complexity or the responsible adoption of AI.

My focus is not on collecting titles. It is on finding the right context to contribute, learn and help organizations make thoughtful long-term decisions.

I continue to invest in my understanding of governance and the responsibilities that come with board service.
