Communications

Names, email addresses and information voluntarily provided when contacting us.

LinkedIn data

Where a LinkedIn member explicitly authorizes our Journal Sync application, and subject to the permissions and capabilities granted by LinkedIn, we may process:

  • LinkedIn member identification information necessary to associate the authorization with the correct account;
  • Publications authored by the authorized member;
  • Article and post titles, text, publication dates and original URLs;
  • Associated media and images where available;
  • Technical authorization information required to operate the integration.

We will limit processing to the information necessary for the authorized synchronization service.

4. Purposes and Legal Bases

We process personal data for the following purposes:

Website operation and security

To operate, maintain, troubleshoot and protect the website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional website.

Responding to communications

To respond to enquiries and professional correspondence. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in managing communications or taking steps requested before entering into a contract, as applicable.

LinkedIn Journal Sync

To retrieve, organize and display the authorized member’s own LinkedIn publications on Human Behind Tech.

The service operates following the member’s explicit authorization. Depending on the processing activity, the legal basis may be consent or performance of a service requested by the member.

Where consent is the legal basis, it may be withdrawn at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

5. LinkedIn Integration

Human Behind Tech – Journal Sync is intended to help an authorized LinkedIn member maintain a professional publication archive on franskin.be.

Subject to LinkedIn’s API permissions, the application may retrieve eligible publications, generate summaries, assign editorial categories, associate images and create or update WordPress Journal entries.

The application is designed to:

  • Access only data permitted by LinkedIn and authorized by the relevant member;
  • Avoid duplicate publications;
  • Preserve attribution and original LinkedIn links;
  • Limit access to authorized administrators;
  • Support disconnection and deletion of imported data;
  • Avoid selling LinkedIn member data or using it for advertising or unrelated profiling.

Data access and synchronization will be subject to LinkedIn’s applicable API terms and technical restrictions.

The application will not access private messages or unrelated member information unless separately authorized, necessary and expressly disclosed through an updated privacy notice.

6. Publication and Visibility

Content intentionally published in The Journal may be publicly accessible, including publication titles, excerpts, images, categories and original LinkedIn links.

Removing a publication from LinkedIn does not necessarily remove an existing copy from WordPress automatically. Where supported, synchronization processes may identify deletions; otherwise, removal can be requested through our privacy contact.

7. Data Sharing and Service Providers

Personal data may be processed by service providers necessary to operate the website and authorized integrations, including:

  • Website hosting and technical infrastructure providers;
  • WordPress and installed software service providers where applicable;
  • LinkedIn, in connection with its authentication and data-access services;
  • Other processors used for security, maintenance or authorized content processing.

Processors acting on our behalf are expected to provide appropriate data protection safeguards.

We do not sell personal data.

8. International Data Transfers

Some technology providers may process personal data outside the European Economic Area.

Where applicable, we will use appropriate transfer mechanisms and safeguards required by the GDPR, such as European Commission adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.

Further information about applicable transfers and safeguards may be requested through our privacy contact.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the relevant purpose.

  • Website security logs: retained according to documented operational and security requirements.
  • Professional correspondence: retained for the period necessary to manage the communication and any applicable legal obligations.
  • LinkedIn authorization data: retained while the integration is active and deleted or invalidated when no longer necessary, subject to technical and legal requirements.
  • Imported Journal content: retained while the authorized publication archive is maintained, unless deleted earlier following an applicable request or account disconnection.

We periodically review the necessity of retaining personal data and remove or anonymize information when no longer required.

10. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risks involved.

These may include encrypted communications, access controls, restricted administrator permissions, secure credential storage, software updates, backups and monitoring.

No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
